Our focus is on resolving state and local tax (SALT) controversies as well as advising tax clients. We are proud of our success in handling large, complex SALT matters.  The core of our skill set is effective litigation of disputes at the audit/appraisal district, administrative, trial, and appellate levels in a strategic manner that emphasizes creative advocacy grounded in relentless preparation and research.  Offices are in Austin, Houston, Chicago and Northern Virginia.  The firm’s partners have many decades of broad and diverse experience in SALT.   Our mission is to resolve disputes in a collaborative manner that strives to exceed client expectations.  We work with our clients, and often with other tax professionals, with the goal of efficient representation that leverages our relationships.  We generally do not face the conflicts and other issues that can hinder SALT service delivery in a large full service law firm.  Our lawyers are active in speaking at local and national conferences and in serving in leadership roles in SALT organizations, as their bios reflect.
